Tallest living quadruped; having a spotted coat and small horns and very long neck and legs; of savannahs of tropical Africa.
Like many of Africa’s large mammals, giraffes have declined in numbers and in range over the last century.
The giraffe belongs to the family Giraffidae. It is classified as Giraffa camelopardalis.
Giraffes spend up to half their time feeding, and most of the remainder is taken up either by searching for food or slowly digesting what they have eaten.
